The 2021 Cycosports Sprint Series – BMX & MTB RACES FOR KIDS

Sunday 11th April

Kids’ MTB/BMX Sprints will be similar to our last 2 kids’ BMX events, with the kids racing on BMX / MTB bikes, on the field, and over obstacles but this time without the pump track.

  • This time, we will also ensure all children will get to race at least 2 motos, and 3 if they qualify for finals

Kids MTB Trail will take them into a shortened and simplified section of the Jungle Cross trail.

  • 7-9 year olds: Field, BMX, Top section of the SCF Training trail (no steep up or downs). approx 2km
  • 10-12 year olds: 2x Field then “CX (Cyclocross) trail, with some ups, downs and windy sections approx 4km
  • 13-15 year olds: 2x Field and CX course, for approx. 4km

Categories and Timing as below – these have changed as at 7th April under instruction from SportSG

See tab “Technical” for details about the above.

A BMX bike is an off-road sport bicycle used for racing and stunt riding. BMX means Bicycle Motocross and is likewise suited for this race.

The MTB used can be hardtail or dual suspension. There is no restriction on suspension travel or wheel / tire size.

AGE Groups – for Jungle Cross events ages are as at 31Dec2020.

Podiums for categories with at least 3 sign-ups at the close of registration.

  • Shirts must not be sleeveless.
  • If you are unsure of your attire and equipment, please consult a marshal before the race.
  • All BAR-ENDS must be protected and levers must not be broken or ground.
  • Gear and accessories may be inspected before the race for compliance. This is for your own safety.
  • Parents must register their children and MUST HAND THEM OFF, READY TO RACE  AFTER REGISTRATION TO THE MARSHALS.
  • If your child is not yet independent, cannot adhere to instructions, or cannot be without you then we do not recommend you allow them to race.

Start Line

2-3 minutes before your scheduled start, you should be in the start funnel along with the other riders in your moto.

Race Insurance

Please note that all riders should have their own medical insurance that covers them for MTB race activities. If an ambulance is required to take you to hospital, the cost of the ambulance will also be charged to the individual.

Race Number

Your race number should be clearly shown on the front of your bike (normally attached in front of the handlebars). Please do not bend, fold or cut your number plate – you maybe disqualified in such cases.

The 7-9, 10-12 & 13-15 sprints will be on the playing fields only, no pumptrack but more obstacles like slaloms, rollers and tabletops for a more technical as well as longer race route. (350M)

The 7-9 surface trail course will be a 1km loop with the field, a short route inside the trail (upper level only) and pumptrack to add a variety of challenges for this category like small rock sections, roots and the pumptrack for pumping skills. (1KM)

The 10-12 and 13-15 course will be a modified version of the current CX course but with lesser climbs. However, this section will have bridges, rocky sections, river crossings and tree roots. (2KM per lap)

Please check through the frequently asked questions below. If you can’t find the answer you’re most welcome to drop us a question here.
